Take a look at these five major mind-blogging video marketing statistics of 2017;
- Over 500 million (that’s half a BILLION) people are watching video on Facebook every day.
- Internet Video Traffic will be over 80% of all consumer internet traffic in 4 yrs.
- Live Internet video will account for 13 percent of the total video traffic- Cisco
- Square video grows in popularity. Square videos take up 78% more space in the Facebook News Feed, and get more engagement, than horizontal videos – Animoto
- More than 500 million hours of videos are watched on YouTube each day.
With these stats, I don’t believe you need any more reasons to have a video marketing strategy.
Now, the thought of that alone sounds daunting. Believe me, I know.
Does it mean that I’ll need to create videos everyday? I means look at the stats.
How could I possibly about go it? I can’t afford a video team yet.
If for any reason, you feel this way, it is totally legit. Executing a video marketing strategy can pose as a challenge particularly as a small business or a startup. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t find a way around it. After all, there are quite a number of media platforms that thrive on User Generated Content(UGC).
So, if you can’t afford an in-house or freelance video marketing team, here are some ways you can still make it work.
Curate User Generated Video.
There are tons of videos littering the internet every single day. Many of them with great potentials might never see the light of the day. Your job is to find those videos that are relevant to your content strategy and share them. No, it is not illegal as long as it is done ethically by giving proper credit to the creators of the videos. That’s the least you can do. So, search for relevant videos, find them, share them and give credit.
Host Live Video Sessions.
In a previous post, we talked about Live Streaming as one of the major digital marketing trends of 2017 and how most major social media platforms have made live videos as easy as flipping a switch. Probably the best thing about Live Streaming is the informality of the session. You’re not particularly required to have a professional setup. It can be properly planned or spontaneous as well. Whichever one you choose. The point is, hosting a live session does not require a team. It is something you can do by yourself consistently if you commit to it. In a subsequent post, I’ll be sharing some tips and tricks for going Live.
Think of gifs as animations. Think of them as being in between images and videos or as a combination of images and videos. The best thing about GIFs is that they are incredibly easy to make compared to a full-fledged video. They take about 30 minutes to an hour to make as long as you plan what you want to do ahead. Wondering where to start? Start here.
Collaborate With Vloggers/Influencers.
Influencer marketing as well as video marketing took the digital marketing landscape by storm in 2017. Running an influencer marketing campaign or collaborating with a vlogger means you’re combining two of the biggest trends for the price of one. For instance, you can send some of your products to that vlogger in your niche that has a decent YouTube audience to review your products. All of this process does not require a team.
A quick look at some of these points show that you’re basically outsourcing your video marketing efforts which is not a bad thing. I like to think about it as a creative way of executing a video strategy. But that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t work towards having your own team in the long run.
